First IEYC unit released today!

We’re delighted to announce the release of our first International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC) unit, To the Rescue!

We’ve been improving learning in early years and nursery settings through our International Primary Curriculum (IPC) for 15 years. However, as new research has come out, and with feedback from our schools, we decided it was time to review our early years programme. During this review, it was clear that a simple update would not be enough. We decided to create an early years curriculum that could stand alone in its own right.

“We were committed to providing a relevant, research-based early years curriculum that would offer both practical support and flexibility, so it could be used in a variety of early years settings anywhere in the world. We considered global best practice, whilst staying true to our values of international mindedness and personal development,” said Sarah Brown, Head of the International Primary Curriculum.

The IEYC supports key areas of learning through holistic enquiry and play-based approaches that cover all curriculum areas including personal, social and emotional development. In addition to To The Rescue! we’ll be developing a wide range of units with themes that will spark children’s imaginations and capture their curiosity, based on our eight learning principles. Four additional IEYC units are scheduled for release this September with a further 10+ units in 2017.

Janice Ireland is our EY Educational Consultant, leading the research and development of the IEYC, and bringing her expertise and passion for early childhood education.

“In recent years, there has been a global movement towards improving the quality and provision of early years education. Fieldwork Education has responded to this need by designing a child-centred curriculum that is underpinned by research from developmental neuroscience. As a result, we are confident that the experiences children will engage in through the IEYC will have a positive influence on the development of brain architecture, whilst laying the foundation for all future learning, behaviour and health,” says Janice.

Our first unit follows a highly-requested Superheroes theme - click here to download To The Rescue!
