What is the IMYC?

The IMYC is a curriculum that focuses foremost on student learning.

It responds specifically to the needs of 11 to 14 year olds by providing independence and interdependence in their learning through discrete subject learning and themes, encouraging learning that helps them make connections that are relevant to their own lives. It involves active, skills-based learning, promotes self-reflection and the opportunity for students to make sense of their learning, and encourages students to use the very latest media platforms to present their learning and express their thinking.

The IMYC clearly promotes creativity and the arts with an explicit emphasis on the development of the creative process, especially via the ‘exit points’.

We also feel that the knowledge-drive in the current curriculum often fails to address and develop the significant levels of skills needed for our students to thrive in their adult lives. The IMYC helps to develop the skills and intelligences required for the acquisition of relevant knowledge.
