IMYC COURSES at the IPC Summer School
Monday 23rd – Wednesday 25th July 2012 The International School of The Hague, The Netherlands
We are pleased to announce that we will be leading course and workshop sessions for Middle Years practitioners alongside the 2012 International Primary Curriculum (IPC) Summer School.
Whether you have already implemented the IMYC in your school, you are about to do so, or you simply want to find out more about how to improve the learning for middle years students - you will be warmly welcomed.
With both Primary and Middle Years participants from schools all around the world in attendance, this year’s Summer School offers an excellent professional development opportunity, along with the chance to network with colleagues from all corners of the globe.

An Introduction to the IMYC
This interactive information day (taking place on Wednesday 25th July 2012 only) has been designed for teachers and school leaders who are looking to improve learning for 11-14 year olds, who are thinking about enhancing their Middle Years Curriculum, and who want to learn more about the IMYC.
Using the IMYC in your School
This 2-day course (taking place on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th July 2012) has been designed for teachers and school leaders who are either using the IMYC in their school, who are about to implement it in their school, or who already know something about the IMYC and are seriously considering using it in their school.
The course will then be followed by a 1-day workshop (taking place on Wednesday 25th July 2012) of your choice.
An Introduction to the IMYC
This information day has been designed for teachers and school leaders who:
- Are looking to improve learning for 11-14 year olds
- Are thinking about refreshing their middle years curriculum
- Want to learn more about the IMYC
- Want to engage and challenge middle years students
- Want to provide a rigorous international curriculum for secondary schools
By the end of the day you will:
- Know about the 3 key middle school challenges
- Know about the IMYC beliefs and principles
- Know about the structure of the IMYC
- Know about each different element of the IMYC
- Know about the subject, personal and international goals
- Be able to see how the IMYC can enhance your current curriculum

By the end of the course you will:
- Know about the needs of 11-14 year olds
- Know about the key features and principles of the IMYC in detail
- Know how schools have implemented the IMYC, the successes and the pitfalls
- Know about how the IMYC has been received in schools
- Be able to collaborate and plan a learning route through the IMYC
- Be able to plan a school-specific IMYC unit of your own
- Be able to link up with and learn from other IMYC member schools
